Simulation games create a whole new world to explore, one that is virtually realistic. I would be more worried about too easy an acceptance of the validity of those effects if SimCity worked with real data. The “compete against computer” option is available only for introductory simulations and a few intermediate-level simulations. The story may have been developed better, but if you’re in for the gameplay experience, you will not be disappointed.
Being on an airplane in the passenger seat doesn’t allow you to have the full extent of feelings that a pilot has, and in order to become pilot, you will have to take classes and hours and spend some time and money in the process, and even so, if you can’t afford your own airplane, the changes that you’ll experience the real thing are pretty slim.
No matter whether simulation games continue to be the butt of internet japes or not, it would appear that the genre is on the up and up.
